Who Is ASI?

Category: Membership Documentation

We are a non-profit educational Sailing organization,
teaching the joy of sailing
in a social environment to adult sailors of all ages and interests

When you're thinking Learn and Sail.....Say ASI !

Our focus and experience is sailing and sharing that with each other and new members. We are an all volunteer group. The American Sailing Institute (ASI) offers sailing instruction by experienced sailors and access to sailboats at a low cost thru membership.

ASI also offers ongoing club membership for those with an interest in sailing, with a focus on instruction and skill improvement. ASI has both an Interlake and Keelboat fleet for member use. Started in the 1960's as part of American Youth Hostels, ASI became a separate organization in 1992.

ASI has no "typical" member. Membership is split by gender, and age ranges from 18 to over 75. These men and women of diverse backgrounds and nationalities share a zest for life - and for sailing!

ASI is a non-profit 501(C)(3) educational organization that offers inexpensive access to sailing through organizational dues, volunteer work hours, and boat donations. Several hundred members participate in teaching, learning, sailing, and maintaining our fleet.
